Basic Configuration - Browser Configuration

When using these directions you may notice that some settings are not listed. Please be sure to follow these directions and only make changes to the options listed. All other defaults are ok as is and/or not important to using the browser with AOS.
 

Internet Explorer 3.0

    1. Load your browser.
    2. Select Options on the View menu.
    3. Click the Navigation Tab.
    4. Select Start Page on the drop-down menu Page.
    5. Fill in the Address box with http://www.aos.co.za
    6. Click OK.
    7. Select Read Mail on the Go menu.
    8. Select Options on the Mail menu.
    9. Check Send Messages Immediately.
    10. Click on the Server tab.
    11. Check the Email Address to insure that it is your email address.
    12. If you are using Windows 95 also:
      • Click on the Advanced Settings button.
      • Check the Reply To: Address to insure that it is your email address.

Internet Explorer 4.0/Windows 98

    1. Load your browser.
    2. Select Internet Options on the View menu.
    3. Fill in the Address box with http://www.aos.co.za
    4. Click OK.
    5. Select Mail on the Go menu.
    6. Select Options on the Tools menu.
    7. Click on the Send tab.
    8. Check Send Messages Immediately.
    9. Click OK.
    10. Select Accounts on the Tools menu.
    11. Click the Add Button.
    12. Select Mail from the drop-down menu.
    13. Enter your name in the Display Name field.
    14. Click the Next button.
    15. Enter your Email Address. (Make sure you use the full address)
    16. Click the Next button.
    17. Select POP3 from the drop down menu.
    18. Fill in the Outgoing mail (SMTP) server field with mail.infodoor.co.za
    19. Fill in the Incoming mail (POP3) server fields with mail.infodoor.co.za
    20. Click the Next button.
    21. Check Log on using.
    22. Enter your username into the POP account name field.
    23. Enter your password into the Password field.
    24. Click the Next button.
    25. Enter Infodoor Mail into the Internet mail account name field.
    26. Click the Next button.
    27. Select Connect using my phone line.
    28. Click the Next button.
    29. Select your modem from the drop down menu.
    30. Click the Next button.
    31. Select Using an existing dial-up connection. (Select Infodoor).
    32. Click the Next button.
    33. Click the Finish button.

Netscape Navigator (Netscape 2.0 or 3.0)

    1. Load Netscape.
    2. Select General Preferences from the Options menu.
    3. Click on the Appearance tab.
    4. Check Home Page Location:
    5. Fill in the box with http://www.aos.co.za
    6. Click OK.
    7. Select Network Preferences from the Options menu.
    8. Change the Memory Cache: field to 300.
    9. Click OK.
    10. Select Mail and News Preferences from the Options menu.
    11. Click on the Server tab.
    12. Fill in the Outgoing mail (SMTP) server field with mail.infodoor.co.za
    13. Fill in the Incoming mail(POP3) server fields with mail.infodoor.co.za
    14. Fill in the POP3 Server Name field with your username.
    15. Leave the News (NNTP) server field empty.
    16. Click on the Identity tab.
    17. Fill in the Your Name field.
    18. Fill in the Your Email field.
    19. Click on the Organization tab.
    20. Check Remember mail password.
    21. Click OK.

Netscape Communicator (Netscape 4.0 and above)

    1. Load Netscape.
    2. Select Preferences from the Edit menu.
    3. Click on the + next to Navigator.
    4. Click on Navigator.
    5. Fill in the Location: field with http://www.AOS.co.za
    6. Click on the + next to Advanced.
    7. Click on Cache
    8. Change the Memory Cache: field to 300.
    9. Click on the + next to Mail & Groups.
    10. Click on Identity.
    11. Fill in the Your Name field.
    12. Fill in the Email address field.
    13. Click on Mail Server.
    14. Fill in the Mail server user name field with your username.
    15. Fill in the Outgoing mail (SMTP) server field with mail.infodoor.co.za
    16. Fill in the Incoming mail(POP3) server fields with mail.infodoor.co.za
    17. Mail Server type should be set to POP3.
    18. Click the More Options button.
    19. Check Remember mail password.
    20. Click OK.
    21. Click OK.
